二、语法和从句分析

1. spend + 时间 + doing：“spent his whole life developing …”中 developing 是现在分词，用在“spend … doing sth.”结构里，表示“花费……做某事”。
2. 比较级 more…than + 程度修饰：“can produce much more rice than traditional ones”中 much 修饰比较级 more 表示“多得多”；ones 代替 plants，避免重复。
3. 现在完成时 + help + 动词原形：“has helped feed people”是现在完成时；help 后接不带 to 的不定式 feed。
4. 同位语 + one of + 最高级：“the Medal of the Republic, one of China's highest honours”中划线部分是 the Medal of the Republic 的同位语；“one of + 形容词最高级 + 复数名词”表示“最……之一”。
5. 复合宾语结构：“People call him the Father of Hybrid Rice”中 call + 宾语 him + 宾语补足语 the Father of Hybrid Rice，意思是“称他为……”。
6. 时态对比：讲袁隆平生平用一般过去时（was, spent, won, received），讲现状用一般现在时（grow, call）。
